Comments: In 1987, on the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution, the National Arborist Association and the International Society of Arboriculture recognized this tree as living when the Constitution was signed. A plaque was placed at the base of this tree. Its trunk is over 6.5' in diameter. The silhouette of this tree is a magnificent spreading umbrella, the classic open-grown "big old oak".
