Types of regeneration harvests:

Clearcutting Pine Plantations

Silvicultural clearcuts in pine forests remove all standing trees (both commercial and non-), and are often followed by site preparation (either mechanical or chemical). Artificial regeneration, either by direct-seeding or planting, is generally used to restock the sites, although, depending on the species and the size/shape of the clearcut, natural regeneration may also be successful. Clearcutting can be the most effective method of regeneration for many shade-intolerant pine species.
