Stand conditions: This 11 acre stand was growing on old agricultural land in Patrick County, Virginia. A soil profile revealed a dark plow layer with red clay below that. There were very few hardwood stems, indicating that weeds were controlled at stand establishment. Age: 32 Trees per acre: 155 Total value per acre: $4981* Sawtimber: 112 tons = $4485 Chip and Saw: 18 tons = $411 Pulpwood: 11 tons (4.3 cords) = $85 Note... this is a much higher yield than average for loblolly pine stands. Very fertile soils and weed control contributed to rapid growth. Cut it! * Growth data represented here is based on one prism point sample within the harvested stand.
