A Remarkable English walnut

Tree Information

Common Name: English walnut

Scientific Name: Juglans regia

Category: Champion (big) tree

Comments: This tree has survived almost a century in the small backyard of a house in Old Town Manassas at 9308 Main Street. The third-generation-owner living there now says his grandmother planted the tree as a seedling. It still produces many walnuts which go primarily to the squirrels and blackbirds. The tree is very healthy, having grown to be the largest recorded of its kind in the Commonwealth.
