Comments: This tree is believed to be one of two hanging trees in Virginia Beach. According to legend there was one tree for blacks, another for whites. Editor's note: Since posting this nomination we have been told that this tree is not a hanging tree, but instead marks the site of an old family plantation and cemetery dating to 1692.
