Comments: This tree is known locally as the Mosby tree, named for the John S. Mosby, the Grey Ghost of Civil War fame, who operated in the area. It is also the fifth largest black walnut on record for Virginia in 2006. Eugene Scheel wrote an article about the tree in the Washington Post in 2006.
