A Remarkable blackhaw

Tree Information

Common Name: blackhaw

Scientific Name: Viburnum prunifolium

Category: Champion (big) tree

Comments: Well, it's huge. It is also well placed for public observation. It has remained hidden all these years probably by the shape of its crown...it certainly looks like an old Rose family member from a distance. I think the story of its discovery makes it remarkable as well. I love guiding, and it seems that when one follows kids new things are always uncovered!

Dendrology Notes: See the Big Tree Database

Best time to photograph: Daytime, hee hee. Pick your favorite, spring flowers, fall fruit and leaves, winter architecture. Best view is from the North, which puts the sun behind it.
