Comments: This tree was nominated by the Fairfax County Tree Commission in honor of Mr. Woody German, who is an inspiration to tree lovers everywhere. Woody is 92 years old and has lived on the property all of his life. As a semi-retired farmer, he still cares for the remainder of the property, grows vegetables and recently began extensive work to preserve and protect the White Oak. Last year he had lighting protection installed on the tree since several other large oaks on the property have been hit and killed by lighting. This year he has begun to remove the English ivy that has been growing in the tree.
