Common Name: hackberry
Scientific Name: Celtis occidentalis
Category: Other
Comments: This tree is large (13 ft. in circumference at 2ft. from the ground and about 85 feet tall with a 90 ft crown) but remarkable in that it has 8 branches so close to its base that they could be called co-dominant leaders and it houses a native American grapevine with a trunk of 20 inches in diameter--the largest I have ever seen--and I have been growing grapevines here for 35 years.
