Comments: Planted in the Carriage Round of Ferry Plantation House (circa 1830) our records tell us this Southern Magnolia was a memorial tree planted in April 1863 by Sally Rebecca Walke in memory of a fallen Civil War soldier, her fiance during the War Between the States. Measured at 131 inches circumference, and 75 ft. tall, this was the champion southern magnolia in Virginia Bbeach in 2001.
