Common Name: paper birch
Scientific Name: Betula papyrifera
Category: Unique tree
Comments: There is a really neat Betula papyrifera on Wadsworth Street in West Radford that has multiple stems that is beautiful. If you have never seen it its worth a drive by. I happened to find it while I was in school at Tech and used photos of it for my Woody Landscape plants slides project in 1991. (Editor's note: this tree was removed in 2013. It was the second largest paper birch on record for Virginia at the time.)
