Common Name: post oak
Scientific Name: Quercus stellata
Category: Beautiful tree
Comments: This tree grows just at the edge of the woods on my father's farm. By identifying the leaves we think this large tree is a post oak. The trunk of this tree measures 121" round and the branches span 64'. Its perfect shape brings a graceful flow to the side of the hill. It is especilly colorful in the autumn light just before dusk as you can see in the photo. The man in this picture standing below the tree is my dad who loves seeing this beautiful tree each day as he goes out to care for his cows.
