Comments: This tree is grows at Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, first US president, and can be seen on many post cards. The tree is believed to have been planted between 1850 and 1860. It was the Virginia state champion tree (largest pecan) until a larger one was discovered in 2006. A sister tree to this pecan was removed after being damaged by Hurrican Isabel in 2004.
