Comments: This "Old Oak Tree" has been and continues to be admired by visitors and residents alike in this small town of 6000. Its beauty has been represented in written articles and even used for our auto decal sticker in 2001. As a result of interst expressed by some of our residents, the Town has established a program of propagating seedling trees from the acorns of this tree. In fact, it was one of our residents, Leon Rhodes, who brought to our attention this opportunity to nominate our tree for the Remarkable Trees of Virginia Project. The circumference at 4.5 foot above the ground of single trunk is 207 inches, the total height is 60 feet, and the crown spread is 95 feet.
Dendrology Notes: see 1663
