Comments: These trees were planted in front of Westover Plantation on the James River. The landscape design is said to have followed an idea of Thomas Jefferson that uses tree spacing to enhance the beauty of buildings. Note that several small trees have been planted to replace trees destoyed by Huricane Isabel. Westover was built circa 1730 by William Byrd II, the founder of Richmond.
