Comments: The Mighty White Oak Age: Approximately over 300 years. Height: Approximately 100 feet. Circumference: Five feet from the ground, the tree is 12 feet around. History: The tree is located on Retreat, a farm between Mount Brilliant, where Patrick Henry's father, John Henry, is buried, and Rocky Mills, where John Syme, Patrick Henry's half brother, is buried. The three farms were all part of one farm during Patrick Henry's time. It was during this time when people visited one another they would most likely pass by this magnificent oak, a one mile journey, between farms, as the crow flies. The tree is located on a ridge on the southwestern part of Hanover County, in the area between Rockville and Farrington, south of the South Anna River. It stands between Stone Horse Creek and Gold Mine Creek. It was on the original Mountain Road that connected Richmond to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
