Comments: This tree is located next to the Wilderness Road, about one day's travel (by foot) from Cumberland Gap. The ruts from the road are still visible behind the tree. Daniel Boone and Thomas Walker, two early explorers who first described Cumberland Gap, carved their names in beech trees such as this one.
