Common Name: tree-of-Heaven
Scientific Name: Ailanthus altissima
Category: Unique tree
Comments: The dubious distiction of this tree lies in it's unique setting. While tree-of-heaven is nothing to be proud of, given that it's one of Virginia's most notorious non-native, invasive trees. However, this one somehow speaks to tree tenacity. This tree, given just a short period of time, has staked it's claim. I like to call this picture "reserved parking" or "shaded parking spot".
Best time to photograph: any time
