A Remarkable white oak

Tree Information

Common Name: white oak

Scientific Name: Quercus alba

Category: Old tree

Comments: This white oak tree is listed with the Prince William county registry and was the first to be listed with their Historical Tree Registry. The statistics are: 243 points, 157 circumference, 65 vertical height, 21 crown, diameter 50, canopy radius 42, listed in good health and very good form. We have been told the tree is from 350 to 400 years old. It is quite impressive and we have people stop and tell us how beautiful it is. What a feeling. We have been trying over the last several years to save it from possible demise because of a road widening project that is to occur in several months. The tree sets on the property of a house that dates back to circa 1875 and is listed with the Prince William County Past to Preserve Historical Register. It was the first post office from 1891 to 1927 when Woodbridge was known as Agnewville. The windows are of hand-blown glass and are joined with hand hewn nails. There is the original smokehouse in the back yard. On March 11, 1748, George Wash
