Common Name: willow oak
Scientific Name: Quercus phellos
Category: Unique tree
Comments: This tree is quite old, and is located on the edge of a salt water cove in Reedville, Virginia. It has one very large limb projecting off at a 90 degree angle. Using a protractor and straw, I measured the tee to be approx 109 feet tall. I have, on several occasions, spotted Bald Eagles feeding on Rockfish near the top of the tree. I feel that because of its location near a salty cove and Chesapeake Bay, the tree is deserving of special recognition.
