Comments: This is a state champion tree, and is a favorite of Harold Jerrell, Extension Agent for Lee County. This tree is also a good example of how local residents historically have been reluctant to cut trees that grow around a spring. The spring just downhill from the tree is the source of water for the family that lives nearby.
