Comments: This is a legendary tree that grew on the campus of Woodbury Forest School. It was over 18 feet in circimference when it died during the summer of 2007. It was located on the lawn of what was once the home of William Madison, brother of President James Madison. The home was designed by Thomas Jefferson, and three presidents, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe selected its location. Today it is the home of the headmaster of the school. Bullets were found in the tree was milled for woodworking projects at the school.
