Common Name: American holly
Scientific Name: Ilex opaca
Category: Old tree
Comments: The place where I live has holly trees bigger than I have ever seen. I believe they were planted around 1745. One is a male and the other is a female. We named our street Holly Lane. I have been all over Virginia and I have never found holly trees this big. Note: this tree has a circumference of 94 inches, making it the 13th largest holly in the Virginia Big Tree records in 2006.
Nominator: Alonza Lee
