Comments: This tree, located on the parade grounds at Fort Monroe, was planted in soil brought to the U.S. from Normandy, France. The tree was planted on the 40th anniversary of the Normandy Invasion, June 6, 1944, by Col. Richard Machin, Post Commander, and Col. Jean Burel, French Liaison Officer.
