Common Name: white oak
Scientific Name: Quercus alba
Category: Beautiful tree
Comments: This oak is a perfectly symmetrical ball shape and has a dense limb structure of very thick, twisting and intertwined limbs. Some of the limbs are more than 48 inches in diameter at the trunk, and many have "grown into" each other. It is endlessly interesting to look at from all angles. It is approximately 175 years old, 80+ feet tall and has a huge "shade" circumference/umbrella of 100 feet, approx 12-15 feet above the ground. The trunk was originally "topped" when the tree was young, which resulted in the many twisting and spiraling limbs . The tree is visible from 1/4 mile from many angles. I have many other photos I can send if you wish to see them.
Best time to photograph: Summer or Fall;early-to-mid afternoon
