Comments: This tree is known as one of the Royal Oaks of Marion, and is believed to be the oldest oak tree in private ownership in the town. Once known as Royal Oak, the Town of Marion celebrated the sesquicentenial by selecting three trees that best represented the town. The trees were dedicated with a plaque on July 4, 2000. The Town of Marion became an official Tree City USA in 2002.
