Common Name: cherrybark oak
Scientific Name: Quercus pagoda
Category: Champion (big) tree
Comments: This is the state champion cherrybark oak, first nominated by William S. Hubard and Matthew Zachary Davis in 1992. It is definitely a remarkable tree. I visited this tree yesterday and am still amazed at its size and health! A passer-by said that it was number one in the state and that the number two was right down the street, however it was taken in a hurricane a couple of years ago.
Dendrology Notes: See the Big Tree Database
Nominator: David Martin
