Comments: Editor's note: this tree was reported dead in 2016. It was located behind the first green at Roanoke Country Club. The tree was used to frame the hole during the construction of the golf course in the 1920's by world renowned golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast. The skyline from the clubhouse was dominated by this tree and it's beauty is enjoyed by all the members of the club.
