Comments: This is a legendary tree- the Fletcher Red Oak on the campus of Sweet Briar College. It graced the campus for a hundred years, but came down August 9, 2005. Acorns from the tree have been collected and planted by many, and offspring are now being sought. The tree was recognized in 1997 as a Heritage Tree by the Tree Stewards of Greater Lynchburg.
