Comments: This state champion big tree is located in front of the Municipal Bldg. for Elkton, VA. This building once served as a Civil War hospital. Based on tree rings and nearby sugar maples planted in a row, the tree is believed to have been planted a little over 100 years ago in 2011. A possible seed source is from trees at nearby Big Island crossing.
