Common Name: white oak
Scientific Name: Quercus alba
Category: Old tree
Comments: This tree is the second largest white oak in Virginia, and perhaps in the nation. It lies in the path of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport and is apparently protected by an agreement between airport officials and the landowners when the property was condemned to make way for the airport. Continued protection of the tree is a concern of local residents.
