Comments: The spring the tree guards is mentioned back in the 1800s and the house that stands within site is the Ballard -Maupin House which was built around 1760. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places and on the Virgina Landmarks. Fifth largest black cherry tree in Virginia in 2005.
