Leaf: Opposite, simple, evergreen, orbicular in shape, to 6 inches long, 5-7-lobed, coarsely toothed; green above and paler below.
Flower: Very showy, bright pink to violet with five rectangular dark-veined petals.
Fruit: A 6-8 parted disc-shaped capsule borne on a long stalk.
Twig: Stout and gray-green with dome-shaped buds.
Bark: Smooth and gray-brown.
Form: A sprawling multi-stem shrub to 12 feet tall.
