twinberry Caprifoliaceae Lonicera involucrata
Leaf:Opposite, simple, deciduous, ovate to elliptical, 1 1/2 to 5 inches long, entire margins, arcuate veins, green and smooth above and below.
Flower:Perfect, tubular or trumpet shaped, small (1/2 inch) and paired, surrounded by 2 bracts that turn red.
Fruit:Paired, purple to black berries about 1/4 inch in diameter.
Twig:Slender, light yellow-green and ribbed when young but turning reddish brown, opposite branching.
Bark:Yellowish-gray to gray-brown and shreddy.
Form:An upright deciduous shrub growing to 10 feet tall.
