This is your first attempt at learning how to identify trees, so we'll start out with some species that look quite different from each other. The scientific name is included with these just for your information. In most scientific forestry documents, species are referred to by their Latin name, but there isn't really a need to learn them unless you like the challenge of it. Since it is the middle of winter, you might have trouble finding leaves in your forest stand, but there are lots of photos here for you to examine.
