Effects of burning fossil fuels. How do you think humans affect the atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations when they drive a car or burn coal for electricity? Well, we can find out by simulating a smokestack in our ecosystem. We're going to light this candle and place it in the aquarium.. |
|
The candle is releasing smoke just like a smokestack on a coal burning power plant would. What do you think will happen to the CO2 concentration in our ecosystem if we allow the candle to smoke for a while. Lets take some more readings from the analyzer to find out. | ![]() |
The CO2 concentration went up from 488.7 to 617.6 ppm because carbon dioxide is released when fuel is burned. |
