Gulf Sebastian-bush Euphorbiaceae Ditrysinia fruticosa

Leaf:Alternate, simple, elliptical, lanceolate to oval, entire, 2 to 4 inches long acute to acuminate tip, semi-evergreen, shiny green above and slightly paler below, reddish petiole.
Flower:Narrow, upright, yellow-green, spike-like clusters (1 to 2 inches long) of very small flowers, female flowers at base of spike, occur in leaf axils near branch tips, appearing in late spring to early summer.
Fruit:Three-parted capsules 1/3 inch across, wider than tall, in loose clusters, ripening to a brown color.
Twig:Slender, green turning brown very late in the season; buds, small reddish brown, pointed.
Bark:Reddish, silver gray later becoming lighter gray brown and a bit rough.
Form:Loosely branched shrub reaching 3 to 8 feet tall.
