Stand conditions: This loblolly pine plantation was growing in Pittsylvania County, Virginia on an average to good site. Soils here are predominately red clay. The original planting density was likely 8 x 10 feet (around 544 trees per acre). Mortality, fire, and self-thinning leave us with a fairly dense 432 trees per acre. The lack of hardwoods on this site indicates good weed control at stand establishment and an occasional controlled burn.

Age: approx. 20

Trees per acre: 432

Total value per acre: $1834 *
