Crop Tree Release

In this case, two out of the three trees that the forester selected as crop trees were actually released by the logger. The released trees are very easy to find. Just look for large patches of sunlight on the forest floor.

The landowner did realize some profit per acre from this improvement cut.

Total value harvested per acre: $1160 *

  • Sawtimber: 3100 board feet = $1069
  • Pulpwood: 5 cords = $91
